Monster Sanctuary PVP Wiki

Overview[]

Ascendant is one of the scariest monsters to face in the game, regardless of which role it's in. As a healer, it gathers Charge stacks for itself using Meditation and Charged Buffs while keeping the team healthy until it can unleash a lethal Ultimate, similar to support Vertraag. As a damage dealer, it combines Cascade with Critical Apex, Cleansing Sidekick, and multi-Sidekick to be able to wear down anything it faces. As it has Aging, Ascendant must be defeated as quickly as possible, but with Evasion and Concealed, it can dodge enough hits to retaliate in return and leave the opposing team with nothing able to stop it.

  • Medallion
  • Ancestral Medal / Mage Flask

Food[]

  • Raspberries x3

Build Details[]

With a high initial Dodge chance and three multi-buff auras that effectively grant it Buff Mastery, Ascendant is terrifying once it gets going. Cleansing Flame, alongside Cleansing Sidekick and Punishment, gives Ascendant the ability to remove a large number of buffs from the opposing monster, removing any defenses it might have from stopping Ascendant from beginning its onslaught. Whirlpool gives it a way to manage any debuffs placed on it.

Buckler and Medallion give Ascendant some initial toughness, while also respectively giving Ascendant an extra Sidekick buff and Crit damage + Mana regeneration. Fan gives Ascendant the highest possible Crit Chance as well as a damage multiplier. Both Ancestral Medal and Mage Flask give damage multipliers as well; while Ancestral Medal gives Charge stacks to make its initial hit harder, Mage Flask's multiplier is present throughout the whole battle.

Team Options[]

  • Sutsune has both Buff Mastery and multi-Sidekick, allowing Ascendant to get 2 of each dodge buff as well as make the most of Cleansing Sidekick and Cascade. Sutsune has Purify and Mass Restore to keep Ascendant healthy, and it also has Buff Steal to so that Ascendant can buff itself in an incredibly fast rate.
  • Aazerach is a great support for Ascendant, as it gives Ascendant even more dodge chance and heavily incorporates Blind in its playstyle, ruining the opposing team's chances of being able to hit Ascendant until it reaches the point of inevitability. It additionally has multi-Sidekick and can pass its Sidekick buffs to Ascendant using the Enlightened Shift Passive.
  • Healer Monk goes very well with its evolution, also having multi-Sidekick as well as Martial Prowess, which grants buffs to its teammates every time they dodge a hit. Monk also has Enlightened as well as Combat Guard, which grants damage reduction for every Sidekick and Glory buff on the team.

Build Details[]

Ascendant can heal the team with Healing Wave, buff with Helping Hand, and support with its excellent passives. It brings Cleansing Sidekick and Punishment to remove enemy buffs, and Heroic Party alongside multiple multi-buff auras to give its teammates great damage potential.

For its Ultimate, Arcane Obliteration is great for removing buffs and allowing it to be a threat with enough Age and Charge stacks, but its other Ultimates can be just as useful if its team has enough flex attackers and damage dealers so that Ascendant doesn't have to worry about playing that role.

Team Options[]

  • Healer Ascendant is excellent on pure Spirit teams, where its Path auras provide additional buffs, especially those who are both Spirits and Mages like Vertraag and Thanatos. If it is targeted down, Frosty can come in and increase the strength of all buffs on the team with Spirit Strength.
  • Mega Rock is also a Spirit that also has multi-Channel and Channeling Balance, further increasing damage reduction for the entire team and helping them accumulate Age stacks to reach inevitability.

Checks and Counters[]

  • Debuffs, especially those who are passed on through passive means like Hexing Rod or Fire Shield, cannot be dodged without Curse Resistance, and Ascendant is weak to Poison, so without a teammate who can directly remove debuffs, Ascendant will eventually be whittled down.
  • Because Ascendant must build crit since it is a crit-based support, it is lacking in bulk that other supports would normally have. Although it can make up for some of that through good Dodge stats, undodgeable attacks are therefore more punishing to Ascendant than they would normally be to a support.
